WHAT IS GRAIN ROASTING?
Roasting
is a process that sterilizes and pre-digests the grain which increases total
daily nutrition. Toxic enzymes and
molds are slowed by the process of roasting.
BETTER CORN DIGESTION
In
Iowa State University trials, undigested kernel passage was 14% for artificially
dried corn, 11% for high moisture corn, and 2% for roasted corn.
ROASTED SOYBEANS ARE A NATURAL
Soybeans
are naturally rich in high energy oils, naturally well balanced with
body-building protein, and naturally high in essential vitamins, minerals and
trace elements. There is no better
protein.
ROASTING BEANS & CORN FOR POULTRY
Roasting
beans and corn for poultry produces excellent benefits, better health grade and
yield, while enhancing the broilers’ flavor.
Commercial egg layers maintain a better and longer lay with fine quality
eggs, from producer to consumer, with a savings of four pounds of feed per one hundred head per day.
Egg
size on #1 Large outrank expected production on unroasted grain. Why?
Fat content of whole soybeans is a huge source of concentrated
energy. Breeders have better
production, hatchability and livability.
Chicks,
ducklings and goslings are more contented, healthier and happier when molds are
destroyed and toxins are retarded.
ROASTING GRAINS FOR BEEF
Roasting
makes it possible to get more nutritional value into every mouthful of dry
matter through gelatinization of the grain which makes it more digestible.
¨ Cattle
gain faster on less feed
¨ Cattle
have slicker coats
¨ Cattle
produce better yield and grade.
ROASTED SOYBEANS IN DAIRY RATIONS
Dairymen
are reporting these results:
¨ Increase
in butter fat
¨ Increased
milk production on less feed
General
improvement in herd health, appearance, less vet expense, healthier calves.
Improved
results are also attained by roasting corn.
Cows
fed whole heat-treated soybeans in early lactation produced about 800 pounds
more milk per 305-day lactation than those fed soybean meal, according to a
study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
ROASTED FULL FAT BEANS
vs. SOYBEAN MEAL
There
are benefits from utilizing roasted full-fat soybeans in place of soybean
meal. When you use roasted full-fat
soybeans:
¨ Pigs
gain 8 to 10% more rapidly
¨ They
require about 10% less total feed/pound of gain, and
¨ There
is no effect (neither good nor bad) upon carcass quality.
You
can use roasted full-fat soybeans in place of soybean meal, on a protein
equivalent basis, in any place you would use soybean meal.
Feeding
roasted full-fat soybeans in place of soybean meal is not outdated! In fact, it is smart to roast your own
full-fat soybeans.
How
large should you be to justify roasting full-fat soybeans? It is a good rule of thumb that if you
market at least 500 head of hogs a year, you could afford to own a roaster. Furthermore, you might be able to interest
neighbors who would be delighted to buy roasted full-fat beans from you.
ROASTING GRAINS IS THE BIGGEST
BREAKTHROUGH IN LIVESTOCK FEEDING THAT’S EVER HAPPENED.
